The buses info changes due to the Provincial Highway 8 road repair construction traffic controls at Xipan Dam section at 179.5 km.

Due to the Xipan Dam section at 179.5 km highway marker on Provincial Highway 8 the serious landslide road emergency repair work, bus info changes between Taroko National Park Headquarters visitor center and Tianxiang.

Buses Service

A: The Taroko #302 ebus provides service from Xincheng railway station via (Taroko National Park Headquarters visitor center) to Tianxiang and then return to Xincheng railway station. The Taroko bus company states that #302 bus fare between Shakadang and Changchun Shrine (Eternal Spring Shrine) section is free of charge. Please notice that weekday (Mon.-Fri.) and weekend bus timetables are different. Notice: Taroko #302 bus does not provide bus service to Buluowan. 

Starting from Ocotber 21, 2023, Taroko 302 bus timetalbe is as follows:

Tianxiang> Xincheng (Taroko) TRA station (Inbound)

Taroko #302 bus time: Xincheng station -10 minutes – Taroko Visitor Center- 30 minutes – Tianxiang

B: Hualien #1133 bus provides service from Hualien railway station via Taroko National Park Headquarters to Tianxiang. Two buses daily only. The Hualien #1133 bus will stop at Buluowan for 2 buses daily from Hualien station bound for Tianxiang but the bus services do not stop at Buluowan from Tianxiang bound for Hualien railway station.

C: TaiwanTrip Ubus #310 provide 9 buses daily service from Hualien railway station via Xincheng railway station to Taroko National Park Headquarters visitor center.

Hualien station bound for Taroko Visitor Center: 6:30, 7:40, 8:30, 9:50, 10:50, 11:50, 12:40, 14:10, 15:10

Taroko Visitor Center bound for Hualien station: 8:50, 9:50, 10:50, 12:10, 13:10, 14:10, 15:10, 16:20, 17:20

Note: TaiwanTrip Ubus #310 Bus will provide 2 bus services daily between Taroko National Park Headquarters visitor center and Tianxiang starting from November 13, 2023. 

Ubus #310: Hualien bound for Tianxiang 8:50 am, 16:10

Ubus #310: Tianxiang bound for Hualien 11:15 am, 17:50

**310 bus time: Hualien – 40 minutes – Taroko Visitor Center - 40 minutes - Tianxiang

Notice: Ubus #310 will alight at Buluowan for bus from Hualien bound for Tianxiang but #310 will not stop at Buluowan for bus from Tianxiang bound for Hualien station.

**Notice: The bus timetables the these three bus companies may change from time to time, please check before your trip.

Due to the road repair traffic controls at 179.5 km (Xipan Dam section )highway marker on the Highway 8, please do NOT purchase  one-day pass or 2-day pass for Ubus #310 or Hualien 1133 bus because there are only 2 buses daily running between Taroko Visitor Center and Tianxiang from 13 November 2023.

You could purchase Taroko #302 bus “a day pass” from the bus driver with NT $150 (exactly change only). The 302 a day pass is not available at Taroko visitor center or Xincheng railway station. Note that Bus #302 and the above buses are different companies and therefore the one-day tickets are not mutually exchangeable. The three bus companies are individual company so one cannot use a 302 day pass to take Ubus 310 or Hualien 1133 bus.

The bus fare can be paid by cash (exact change only, No change will be provided from the bus driver.) to the bus driver or via Taipei Metro EasyCard, iPass, or iCash card. Make sure you have exact change for the bus fare. Please fill up enough money for your electronic card (the abovementioned payment cards) at Taipei Metro station or anyone of railway stations in Taiwan.

The bus arrival time will affect by the road repair construction traffic controls.

Notice to road users:

Due to the Xipan Dame road section emergency repair work on Provincial Highway 8, the passage will be 5 times every day.

The Eastern Region Branch Office Highway Bureau, MOTC (Taroko Works Division) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety within Taroko National Park.

The Provincial Highway 8 at 179.5 km (Xipan Dam section) highway marker for the road landslide emergency repair construction work, due to the July 27, 2023 Typhoon serious landslide damage.

Traffic Control Time: 8:30 am – 17:00 pm

Control Period: November 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023

Five Passage Time Daily: (1) 10:00 am passage once, (2) 11:30 – 12:30, (3) 14:00 passage once, (4) 15:30 passage once, (5) 17:00- the second morning 8:30 am (road open at night)

Open for one direction of traffic once at a time for both directions traffic. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.


Please wait patiently and arrive earlier at the control point before the passage time. Please cooperate, drive carefully and pass sequentially; the emergency repair team also reminds drivers that the disaster road section is still in the emergency repair stage. In addition, if it is affected by unexpected conditions or typhoons, heavy rains, earthquakes and other weather conditions, emergency road closures (including road closure control at night), it will not be ruled out if necessary to ensure road users safety. Open for one direction of traffic once at a time for both directions traffic. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.


East to west: The east entrance from Taroko Arch Gate at 184.5 km highway marker to the traffic control point at 179.5 km Baisha No. 2 Bridge (Xipan Dam section) is about 5 km / about 8 minutes by car.

West to east: The west from Tianxiang at 167.6 km to the traffic control point at 179.5 km (Xipan Dam section) is about 11.9 km / about 20 minutes by car.
