NOTE:
This scenic spot is closed due to severe damage caused by the April 3, 2024 earthquake and subsequent typhoons. A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Hualien on April 3, followed by Typhoon Kong-rey on October 31, both of which caused extensive damage to the eastern part of the park.
The bridge is situated at the 176.5K of Central Cross-Island Highway between Zhuilu Cliff and Jiuqudong (Tunnel of Nine Turns). Liwu River has a 90-degree turn right at the spot where Liufang Bridge spans Liwu River Gorge.
Standing on the two-story lookout platform at the west of the bridge, you can see Taroko Gorge. To the east, you will see the mountain walls standing tall on both sides of the gorge. Mountains tower from afar, among which rivers rush along. The view is vastly different from the gorge seen in Swallow Grotto (Yanzikou) and The Tunnel of Nine Turns (Jiuqudong), which resembles the park’s emblem(logo) of tall mountains and deep gorges of Taroko National Park.
