NOTE:  After the April 3 (0403) Earthquake and severe damage caused by typhoons in 2024, trails and scenic spots in the Taroko Gorge section are not open. Please adjust your plans and visit other scenic attractions in Taiwan that were not affected by the earthquake.

***Note:  All bus services (including buses 310, 302, 1133, and 1141) between the Taroko Visitor Center and Tianxiang (the Taroko Gorge section) have been suspended due to severe damage caused by the April 3 (0403) earthquake and typhoons in 2024 to the road, scenic spots, and trails along Provincial Highway 8, specifically the Taroko Gorge section between Taroko (184.5 km) and Tianxiang (167.7km highway marker).

On April 3, 2024, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Hualien, followed by the impact of Typhoon Kong-rey on October 31, causing severe damage to the park. Many areas suffered from landslides, falling rocks, and damaged facilities. Due to ongoing aftershocks and the impact of the typhoons, repair and restoration work has been significantly delayed. The reopening dates for trails and scenic spots in Taroko Gorge (Taroko–Tianxiang) remain uncertain, and the repair work may take a long time.
