Provincial Highway 8, 9 and 9D Road Construction Traffic Control Information for May 2023.

Provincial Highway 8

Road partially Open /Road closed Guanyuan section between Mt. Hehuan Police Station (114.6 km) and Jinma Tunnel East Opening (120.6 km)

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Taroko Works Division) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety within Taroko National Park. There will be roadwork between 32.7 km – 41.5 km on Provincial Highway 14A (14Jia) and 110.2 km – 187.7 km on Provincial Highway 8 (Dayuling – Taroko) from May 2, 2023 – May 30, 2023.

Specifically: 

 

1. Provincial Highway 8 at 159 km+980 m~160 km+454 m (Xibao), 166 km +812 m ~167 km+750 m (Tianxiang), 168 km+810 m ~ 170 km (Lushui), 173 km +420 m ~ 174 km (Jiuqudong Tunnel East Entrance ~ Liufang Bridge), 178 km+615 m ~ 180 km+900 m (Xipan~Ning'an Bridge) road sections for the asphalt pavement improvement construction work

 

Control Period: May 11th ~ May 28th, 2023

Traffic Control Time: 8 am – 5 pm

Passage time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00 – 08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10 etc.)

Open for one direction of traffic passage at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction. Traffic controls do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

 

 

2. Provincial Highway 8 at 169 km + 600 m (Lushui section) for the Slope Improvement Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm

Control Period: May 8, 2023 – May 9, 2023

Every 1 hour on the half hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:30 – 08:40, 09:30 – 09:40, 10:30 – 10:40 etc.)

Open for one direction of traffic passage at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction. Traffic controls do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

 

3. Provincial Highway 8 at 158 km + 500 m (Luoshao section) for the Slope Improvement Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Control Period: May 12, 2023 – May 31, 2023

Passage time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00 – 08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10 etc.)

Open for one direction of traffic passage at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction. Traffic controls do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

4. Provincial Highway 8 at 182 km (Changchun Shrine section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8 am – 5 pm

Control Period: May 8, 2023 – May 11, 2023

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work

Open for one direction of traffic passage at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

 

Traffic controls for #1-4 construction sites do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

5. Provincial Highway 8 at 117 km + 400 m Guanyuan Disaster Road Section for the emergency repair for the slope. The control section is from Jinma Tunnel's east entrance at 114.6 km highway marker (about 64 kilometers away from Taroko Arch Gate (east entrance to gorge)/about 1 hour and 50 minutes driving time) to Guanyuan at 120.6 km (about 4 kilometers away from Dayuling). The passage period will be adjusted, respectively, 5 times daily from (1) 7:00 am - 8:00 am, (2) 10:00 am – 10:10 am, (3) 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, and (4) 3:00 pm – 3:10 pm. (5) 5:00 pm – 5:10 pm.

 

The emergency repair team will arrange personnel to guard and control the 117.4 km disaster site on Provincial Highway 8 during each passage time. The construction site traffic control will open on time, depending on the slope conditions. Please wait patiently and arrive earlier at the control point before the passage time. Please cooperate, drive carefully and pass sequentially; the emergency repair team also reminds drivers that the disaster road section is still in the emergency repair stage. During the passage period, drivers should be aware that if the weather conditions are not good (heavy rainfall, dense fog causing an inability to monitor the slope, etc.) the emergency repair team is permitted to close the road and prohibiting the passage of people and vehicles.

 

Road Closed Control Period: May 2, 2023 – May 31, 2023

Passage time: (1) 7:00 am - 8:00 am, (2) 10:00 am – 10:10 am, (3) 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, and (4) 3:00 pm – 3:10 pm (5) 5:00 pm – 5:10 pm.

 

Open for one direction of traffic passage at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

Road closed time: 24hr including public holidays and weekends

Provincial Highway 9 & 9D Road Construction Traffic Control Information for May 2023

Road Open/Construction Traffic Control.

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Nan'ao Works Section) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety on Provincial Highway 9.

Slope Construction Work on Provincial Highway 9 will be the following:

 

1. Provincial Highway 9 at 113.4 km ~123.5 km (Dong’ao ~ Nan’ao Section) for the Road Marking Construction Work

Control Period: April 25, 2023 - May 8, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Passage Time: Temporary lane closure control (Traffic controls for do not apply on rainy days, weekends and public holidays.)

Open for one direction of traffic at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

 

2. Provincial Highway 9 at 119.4 km (Nan’ao Section) for for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Control Period: April 24, 2023 ~ May 22, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work

Open for one direction of traffic at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction. (Traffic controls for do not apply on weekends and public holidays.)

 

3. Provincial Highway 9 at 158.63 km ~ 163. 32 km (Daqingshui, No. 13, Jinwen and Chongde Tunnels) and Provincial Highway 9D at 67 km ~ 68.19 km (Renqing and Heqing Tunnels) for the Tunnel Lighting Maintenance Work

Control Period: May 1, 2023 ~ May 12, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 pm to 8:00 am (Night time)

Passage Time: Open for one direction of traffic once at a time for both directions traffic. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

 

4. Provincial Highway 9D (9 Ding) at 51.9 km ~ 52.38 km (Aohua Tunnel Section) for the Tunnel Lighting Maintenance Work

Control Period: May 1, 2023 ~ May 12, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 pm to 8:00 am (Night time)

Passage Time: Open for one direction of traffic once at a time for both directions traffic. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

 

5. Provincial Highway 9D at 68 km + 650 m (Daqingshui Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Control Period: May 2, 2023 – May 18, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Traffic controls for do not apply on weekends and public holidays.)

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work

Open for one direction of traffic at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

 

6. Provincial Highway 9D at 62 km + 400 (Hezhong Section) for the Rockfall Protection Tunnel Construction Work

Control Period: May 2, 2023 - May 31, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, (No traffic control from 12 noon – 1 pm.) (Traffic controls for do not apply on weekends and public holidays.)

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work
