There will also be traffic controls implemented on Provincial Highway 8 at the same time. Visitor centers with shuttle bus accessibility will open earlier. Tourists are welcome to take a free shuttle bus to visit various scenic spots in Taroko National Park.

Three Routes to Visit Taroko Scenic Spots

The free shuttle bus service has three routes for visiting Taroko National Park during the Lunar Chinese New Year in 2023.

1. Blue line (the Full Route from Taroko Visitor Center to Tianxiang, with no stop at Buluowan); 2. Red line (Taroko Visitor Center - Buluowan Partial Line); 3. Green Line (Buluowan - Tianxiang Partial Line). The shuttle bus will stop at Shakadang, Buluowan, Yanzikou (Swallow Grotto), Jiuqudong (Tunnel of Nine Turns), Lushui, Tianxiang, and Changchun Shrine (Eternal Spring Shrine).

Tourists can freely get on and off the bus at any stop and choose to take any shuttle bus route according to the destination they visit. Taking a shuttle bus will save trouble finding parking spaces or traffic jams at various attractions. Taroko N. P. HQ emphasizes that a large influx of tourists is expected during the Chinese New Year. Parking spaces of scenic spots along the Central Cross-Island Highway are limited, and some scenic spots, such as Jiuqudong (Tunnel of Nine Turns), have no parking spaces. Taking a free shuttle bus is the best choice to tour various scenic spots in Taroko during the Lunar Chinese New Year.

How to get to the Taroko N. P. HQ Visitor Center by taking a free shuttle bus? Tourists can drive or take TRA trains or Beihua Line (Taipei-Hualien) buses to Xincheng Railway Station. HQ Visitor Center and transfer to a free shuttle bus, or you can directly take the paid public bus to the scenic spot you want. Taroko N. P. HQ has coordinated with bus companies to increase the frequency of bus services to tour the park's various scenic spots.

Central Cross-Island Highway traffic control, vehicle passage time 10 minutes every 2 hours

Taroko N. P. HQ emphasizes that the Central Cross-Island Highway is winding and narrow in of some sections. During the Chinese New Year holiday, to reduce traffic congestion along the scenic spots on the Central Cross-Island Highway, appropriate diversion measures will be taken according to the different needs of road sections. Taroko Arch Gate to Tianxiang traffic control will be implemented between January 23 - 25, 2023 (2nd to 4th day of Chinese New Year) from 7 am to 3 pm every day. The east control point is located at the 185.4 km highway marker of Fushi Village on the Central Cross-Island Highway (Provincial Highway 8), and the west control point is located at the 167.1 km highway marker in Tianxiang. During the control period, in principle, vehicle passage time shall be 10 minutes every two hours. Vehicles can park in the outer lane of the Fushi Village Highway Bureau near the Taroko control point. The inner lane provides residents in the park (including residents of Fushi Village in the control area), staff in the control area, highway maintenance unit personnel, and emergency repair vehicles in the area are allowed to pass.
