Free Shuttle Bus Provided - Taroko National Park Facilities Will Open Early

 

 

There are traffic controls in effect on Provincial Highway 8 during the Lunar Chinese New Year 2021, in coordination with a free shuttle bus service.

Traffic Control Area:

184.5 km (Taroko) to 167.1 km (Tianxiang) on Provincial Highway 8

Provincial Highway 9 old road section to the north of Jinwen Bridge.

(1) Taroko to Tianxiang: The control period: 07:00 am – 03:00 pm, February 13-15, 2021

Departure time may vary depending on snowfall in the Mt. Hehuan area.

(2) Tianxiang to Taroko: The control period: 07:00 am – 03:30 pm, February 13-15, 2021

During the traffic control, no cars are allowed to enter.

 

Transportation from Tianxiang bound for Taroko (west to east)

Traffic control time: 07:00 am - 03:30 pm. This road section will open once daily during the traffic control period at 11:30 am for 30 minutes. Cars are not allowed to stop or park on Provincial Highway 8.  

Control item:

A: The controlled section only allows entry for shuttle buses, regular daily buses, and 20 or 40-seater buses. Other four-wheeled cars are not allowed to enter from Taroko to Tianxiang section.

B: Local residents, workers, highway maintenance unit personnel and emergency repair cars, please bring your ID for verification and passage.

C: Tourists staying at B&Bs, hotels or hostels in the traffic control section are kindly requested to show reservation documentation to permit entry. Entrance and passage will be allowed after 12:00 pm.

D: During the traffic control period, the 20 or 40-seater buses are permitted access for 80 buses at a time. Please go to Xincheng (Taroko) Train Station to apply with the Taroko National Park on-site handling staff in order to get the entry permit card. Use any identification to exchange the park entry permit.

Free Shuttle Bus info:

A: Taroko National Park Headquarters will provide free shuttle bus services on February 13-15, 2021 (2nd to 4th day of Lunar Chinese New Year) along the Taroko to Tianxiang section of Provincial Highway 8.

B: Visitors with personal vehicles:

Please proceed to Xincheng Railway Station to take the free shuttle bus at 184 km on Provincial Highway 9 or 185 km on Provincial Highway 8 at Taroko gas station.

C: Visitors taking trains:

Please get off the train at Xincheng train station and then transfer to the free shuttle bus bound for Taroko gorge.

 

In coordination with the traffic control measures, Taroko National Park Headquarters will operate free shuttle buses that will transport visitors to Taroko, Buluowan, Swallow Grotto, Tunnel of Nine Turns (Jiuqudong), Tianxing and other scenic spots. Visitors are invited to make good use of the service.

 

The free shuttle buses operate following the blue, red, green, and orange routes, with Xincheng (Taroko) Railway Station as the transfer station. Accompanying the operation of full routes from Xincheng (Taroko) station to Tianxiang (blue line), partial routes with the red, green and orange line services will also be operated to meet visitors’ needs and reduce waiting time. The red line will operate between Xincheng Train Station, Taroko Visitor Center, and Buluowan. The green line will operate between Buluowan and Tianxiang; and the orange line between Xincheng (Taroko) Train Station and Eternal Spring (Changchun) Shrine (Eternal Spring Shrine). The scenic spots on the routes include Taroko Gas Station, Taroko Visitor Center, Buluowan, Swallow Grotto, Jiuqudong (Tunnel of Nine Turns), Lushui, Tianxiang and Eternal Spring (Changchun) Shrine. Visitors can get on or off at the various stops along the routes allowing them to easily reach Taroko’s various scenic spots.

Buses will depart when they are full, with a service at least every 30 minutes.

During Chinese New Year 2021, in coordination with the operation of a free park shuttle bus service, Taroko National Park Headquarters will provide value-added services. The visitor center and service stations will be closed on February 11 (Chinese New Year’s Eve) but will open earlier February 13-15 (2nd to 4th day of Chinese New Year). During this period, Taroko National Park Visitor Center will open at 07:00 am and close at 05:00 pm; Buluowan Service Station will open at 07:30am and close at 05:00 pm; Tianxiang Service Station, The Central Cross-Island Highway History Hall, Lushui Geological Exhibition Hall and Mt. Hehuan Service Station will open at 08:00 and close at 05:00 pm. The park HQ will also mobilize staff and volunteers to provide services to visitors and accompany them during the happy festival holiday. On February 12 (the first day of Chinese New Year), operation hours will be in accordance with normal operating times.

Buluowan Buluowan Suspension Bridge will suspend online reservations from February 13th to 15th (2nd to 4th day of Chinese New Year). Instead, visitors will need to queue on-site in order for the coordination and control of people accessing the suspension bridge.
