Road partially Open /Road closed 117.4 km at Guanyuan section

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Taroko Works Division) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety within Taroko National Park. There will be roadwork between 32.7 km – 41.5 km on Provincial Highway 14A (14Jia) and 110.2 km – 187.7 km on Provincial Highway 8 (Dayuling – Taroko) from June 1, 2023 – June 30, 2023.

Specifically: 

 

1. Provincial Highway 8 at 178.6 km ~ 180.9 km (Xipan – Ning’an Bridge section) for the Road Pavement Improvement Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Control Period: June 5, 2023 – June 8, 2023

Passage time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00 – 08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10 etc.)

Open for one direction of traffic passage at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

Traffic controls do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

 

2. Provincial Highway 8 at 158.5 km ~ 158.8 km (Xibao section) for the Slope Improvement Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Control Period: June 1, 2023 – June 30, 2023

Passage time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00 – 08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10 etc.)

Open for one direction of traffic passage at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

Traffic controls do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

 

3. Provincial Highway 8 at 117 km + 400 m Guanyuan Disaster Road Section for the emergency repair for the slope. (about 67.1 kilometers away from Taroko Arch Gate-east entrance to gorge, east to west, about 2 hours driving time) (about 7.2 kilometers away from Dayuling, west to east). The passage period will be adjusted, respectively, 5 times daily from (1) 7:00 am - 8:00 am, (2) 10:00 am – 10:10 am, (3) 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, and (4) 3:00 pm – 3:10 pm. (5) 5:00 pm – 5:10 pm.

 

The emergency repair team will arrange personnel to guard and control the 117.4 km disaster site on Provincial Highway 8 during each passage time. The construction site traffic control will open on time, depending on the slope conditions. Please wait patiently and arrive earlier at the control point before the passage time. Please cooperate, drive carefully and pass sequentially; the emergency repair team also reminds drivers that the disaster road section is still in the emergency repair stage. During the passage period, drivers should be aware that if the weather conditions are not good (heavy rainfall, dense fog causing an inability to monitor the slope, etc.) the emergency repair team is permitted to close the road and prohibiting the passage of people and vehicles.

 

Road Closed Control Period: June 1, 2023 – June 30, 2023

Passage time: (1) 7:00 am - 8:00 am, (2) 10:00 am – 10:10 am, (3) 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, and (4) 3:00 pm – 3:10 pm (5) 5:00 pm – 5:10 pm.

 

Open for one direction of traffic passage at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

Road closed time: 24hr including public holidays and weekends

Please plan your trip accordingly.

 

(Note: June 22, 2023 ~ June 25, 2023 is the 4 days public holidays of the Dragon Boat Festival. This control point is open to vehicles from 7:00 am -17:00 pm during the day, and it is closed at night (17:00 pm ~ the next morning 7:00 am)

Provincial Highway 9 & 9D Road Construction Traffic Control Information for June 2023

Road Open/Construction Traffic Control.

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Nan'ao Works Section) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety on Provincial Highway 9.

Construction Work on Provincial Highway 9 will be the following:

 

1. Provincial Highway 9 at 159.3 km (Daqingshui Tunnel) for the Rockfall Prevention Tunnel Construction Work (158.2 km Daqingshui ~ 159.3 km Jinwen Tunne North Entrance

Control Period: May 17, 2023 ~ August 31, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 am to 17:00 pm

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work

Open for one direction of traffic once at a time for both directions traffic. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction. (Traffic controls for do not apply weekends and public holidays.)

 

2. Provincial Highway 9 at 117.5 km ~118.9 km (Nan’ao Section) for the Road Pavement Repair Work

Control Period: May 29, 2023 - June 1, 2023

Control Time: 7:00 pm to the next morning 7:00 am (Night Time)

Passage Time: Temporary lane closure control (Traffic controls for do not apply on rainy days, weekends and public holidays.)

Open for one direction of traffic at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

 

3. Provincial Highway 9 at 119.4 km (Nan’ao Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Control Period: May 25, 2023 ~ June 15, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work

Open for one direction of traffic at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction. (Traffic controls for do not apply on weekends and public holidays.)

 

4. Provincial Highway 9 at Guanyin Tunnel ~ Gufeng Tunnel Section for the Tunnel Lighting Maintenance Work

Control Period: June 5, 2023 ~ June 8, 2023

Control Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Passage Time:  For the southbound traffic, (First, the road will close the left side main lane, then, the next the road will close the right side emergency lane.)

Open for one direction of traffic once at a time for both directions traffic. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

 

5. Provincial Highway 9D (9 Ding) at 62.4 km (Hezhong Tunnel Section) for the Rockfall Protection Tunnel Construction Work

Control Period: June 1, 2023 - June 30, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Traffic controls for do not apply on weekends and public holidays.)

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work

6. Provincial Highway 122 km (Nan’ao Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work
