Provincial Highway 8, 9 and 9D Road Construction Traffic Control Information for April 2023

Road partially Open /Road closed Guanyuan section between Mt. Hehuan Police Station (114.6 km) and Jinma Tunnel East Opening (120.6 km)

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Taroko Works Division) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety within Taroko National Park. There will be roadwork between 32.7 km – 41.5 km on Provincial Highway 14A (14Jia) and 110.2 km – 187.7 km on Provincial Highway 8 (Dayuling – Taroko) from April 6, 2023 – April 30, 2023.

Specifically: 

 

1. 117 km + 400 m Guanyuan Disaster Road Section on Provincial Highway 8. The control section is from Jinma Tunnel's east entrance at 114.6 km highway marker (about 64 kilometers away from Taroko Arch Gate (east entrance to gorge)/about 1 hour and 45 minutes driving time) to Guanyuan at 120.6 km (about 4 kilometers away from Dayuling). The passage period will be adjusted, respectively, 5 times daily from (1) 7:00 am - 8:00 am, (2) 10:00 am – 10:10 am, (3) 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, and (4) 3:00 pm – 3:10 pm. (5) 5:00 pm – 5:10 pm.

 

The emergency repair team will arrange personnel to guard and control the 117.4 km disaster site on Provincial Highway 8 during each passage time. The construction site traffic control will open on time, depending on the slope conditions. Please wait patiently and arrive earlier at the control point before the passage time. Please cooperate, drive carefully and pass sequentially; the emergency repair team also reminds drivers that the disaster road section is still in the emergency repair stage. During the passage period, drivers should be aware that if the weather conditions are not good (heavy rainfall, dense fog causing an inability to monitor the slope, etc.) the emergency repair team is permitted to close the road and prohibiting the passage of people and vehicles.

 

Road Closed Control Period: April 6, 2023 – April 30, 2023

Passage time: (1) 7:00 am - 8:00 am, (2) 10:00 am – 10:10 am, (3) 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, and (4) 3:00 pm – 3:10 pm (5) 5:00 pm – 5:10 pm.

One direction traffic passage at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

Road closed time: 24hr including public holidays and weekends

Please plan your trip accordingly.

 

2. Provincial Highway 8 at 149 km (Ciyun Bridge section) for the Slope Improvement Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 7:00 am – 6:00 pm

Control Period: April 10, 2023 – April 23, 2023

Passage time: Every 2 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 07:00~07:10、09:00~09:10、11:00~12:00、14:00~14:10、16:00~16:10.)

Traffic Control Time: 7:00 am – 6:00 pm

Control Period: April 24, 2023 – May 11, 2023

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on work progress

Open for one direction of traffic passage at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

Passage period: 6:00 pm – the next day morning 7:00 am (Night time no traffic controls, including public holidays and weekends)

Traffic controls do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

 

3. Provincial Highway 8 at 157 km (Xibao section) for the Slope Improvement Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 7:00 am – 6:00 pm

Control Period: April 24, 2023 – April 28, 2023

Passage time: Every 2 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 07:00~07:10、09:00~09:10、11:00~12:00、14:00~14:10、16:00~16:10.)

Open for one direction of traffic passage at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

Passage period: 6:00 pm – the next day morning 7:00 am (no traffic controls)

Traffic controls for do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

 

4. Provincial Highway 8 at 182 km (Changchun Shrine section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8 am – 5 pm

Control Period: April 10, 2023 – May 10, 2023

Passage time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00-08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10 etc.)

Open for one direction of traffic passage at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

Traffic controls for #2-4 construction sites do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

Provincial Highway 9 & 9D Road Construction Traffic Control Information for April 2023

Road Open/Construction Traffic Control.

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Nan'ao Works Section) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety on Provincial Highway 9.

Slope Construction Work on Provincial Highway 9 will be the following:

 

1. Provincial Highway 9 at 159 km + 300 (Daqingshui Tunnel) for the Tunnel Construction Work

Control Period: April 18, 2023 – May 15, 2023

Control Time: 8 am to 6 pm (Traffic controls for do not apply on weekends and public holidays.)

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work

Open for one direction of traffic passage at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

 

Traffic controls do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

2. Provincial Highway 9 at 159 km + 300 (Daqingshui Tunnel) for cleaning up the soil and rock accumulation on the top of the tunnel.

Control Period: April 25, 2023 (9 am -11 am)

Control Time: this road section will be closed for 2 hours from 9 am -11 am.

Except from the above closure time, the rest of the time is still open for one direction of traffic at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

 

3. Provincial Highway 9D (9 Ding) at 148 km +200 and 61 km+300 (Heping – Hezhong Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Control Period: April 6, 2023 - April 30, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Traffic controls for do not apply on weekends and public holidays.)

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work

Open for one direction of traffic at a time. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

 

4. Provincial Highway 9 at 119 km + 400 (Nan’ao Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Control Period: April 10, 2023 - May 22, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Traffic controls for do not apply on weekends and public holidays.)

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work

5. Provincial Highway 9D at 4 km + 500, 8 km + 500, 11 km + 200, and 13 km + 600 (Su’ao – Dong’ao Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Control Period: April 17, 2023 - July 13, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Traffic controls for do not apply on weekends and public holidays.)
