Starting from May 15, 2021, all the trails within three high mountain national parks (including Taroko, Shei-pa and Yushan National Park) Ecological Protection Area are closed.

Following the escalation to Level 3 regulations due to the COVID-19 outbreak alert for Taipei City and New Taipei Areas, Taroko National Park will implement new measures for access to the recreation area. Please be advised that mountain cabins and all regions in the ecological protection areas will be prohibited for use except in the conditions of emergency survival situations, maintenance, necessary services, and medical and official business needs. All other use is prohibited. Those who have obtained entry permits will have their permits automatically revoked.

1. All indoor exhibitions are closed (including the visitor centers and service stations), except for life support emergencies, maintenance, essential services, medical, or official needs.

2. Mountain cabins and ecological protection areas are closed, except for life support, maintenance, essential services, medical treatment, or official duties. Be advised that mountain cabins are entirely closed, and people are prohibited from entering the national park ecological protection area. Those who have obtained entry permits will have them automatically revoked.

3. Outdoor recreation areas in Yangmingshan National Park are completely closed except for life support emergencies. People accessing other outdoor scenic spots must wear face masks and maintain social distancing (1 meter).

4. Outdoor recreational areas in other national parks will restrict gatherings of more than 500 people. Controls and guided diversions must be implemented to manage the flow of densely occupied areas. All people must wear face masks and maintain social distancing (1 meter).

5. Parking lots will reduce the number of available parking spaces by 50% and be adjusted according to the on-site conditions. This measure is to reduce the proximity of people in recreation areas.

The pandemic prevention and control measures listed above will be reviewed and updated to adhere to the guidelines issued by the Central Epidemic Command Center. Each national park will vary due to its jurisdiction and local conditions.

Be advised that as of May 15, 2021, people are suspended from entering the ecologic protection area of the national park. Please pay attention to future announcements with respect to opening dates or changes to the pandemic prevention regulations. Thank you for your cooperation.
