Road partially Open /Road closed 117.4 km at Guanyuan section

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Taroko Works Division) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety within Taroko National Park. There will be roadwork between 32.7 km – 41.5 km on Provincial Highway 14A (14Jia) and 110.2 km – 187.7 km on Provincial Highway 8 (Dayuling – Taroko) from July 1, 2023 – July 31, 2023.

Specifically: 

 

1. Provincial Highway 8 at 110.2 km ~115 km (Guanyuan section) for the Road Railing Improvement Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Control Period: July 1, 2023 – July 31, 2023

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work

Open for one direction of traffic once at a time for both directions traffic.

Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

(Traffic controls for do not apply weekends and public holidays.)

 

2. Provincial Highway 8 at 158.5 km ~ 158.8 km (Xibao section) for the Slope Improvement Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Control Period: July 1, 2023 – July 31, 2023

Passage time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00 – 08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10 etc.)

Open for one direction of traffic once at a time for both directions traffic. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

Traffic controls do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

 

3. Provincial Highway 8 at 117 km + 400 m Guanyuan Disaster Road Section for the emergency repair for the slope. (about 67.1 kilometers away from Taroko Arch Gate-east entrance to gorge, east to west, about 2 hours driving time) (about 7.2 kilometers away from Dayuling, west to east). The passage period will be adjusted, respectively, 5 times daily from (1) 7:00 am - 8:00 am, (2) 10:00 am – 10:10 am, (3) 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, and (4) 3:00 pm – 3:10 pm. (5) 5:00 pm – 5:10 pm.

 

The emergency repair team will arrange personnel to guard and control the 117.4 km disaster site on Provincial Highway 8 during each passage time. The construction site traffic control will open on time, depending on the slope conditions. Please wait patiently and arrive earlier at the control point before the passage time. Please cooperate, drive carefully and pass sequentially; the emergency repair team also reminds drivers that the disaster road section is still in the emergency repair stage. During the passage period, drivers should be aware that if the weather conditions are not good (heavy rainfall, dense fog causing an inability to monitor the slope, etc.) the emergency repair team is permitted to close the road and prohibiting the passage of people and vehicles.

 

Road Closed Control Period: July 1, 2023 – July 31, 2023

Passage time: (1) 7:00 am - 8:00 am, (2) 10:00 am – 10:10 am, (3) 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, and (4) 3:00 pm – 3:10 pm (5) 5:00 pm – 5:10 pm.

 

Open for one direction of traffic once at a time for both directions traffic. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

Road closed time: 24hr including public holidays and weekends

Provincial Highway 9 & 9D Road Construction Traffic Control Information for July 2023

Road Open/Construction Traffic Control.

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Nan'ao Works Section) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety on Provincial Highway 9.

Construction Work on Provincial Highway 9 will be the following:

 

1. Provincial Highway 9 at 117.5 – 118.9 km (Xin’ao Tunnel Section) for the Road Pavement Repair Work

Control Period: June 26, 2023 - July 7, 2023

Control Time: 19:00 to the next morning 7:00 am (Night Time) (Monday –Thurday)

Passage Time: Temporary lane closure control (Traffic controls for do not apply on Fridays, weekends and public holidays.)

Open for one direction of traffic once at a time for both directions traffic. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

 

2. Provincial Highway 9D (9 Ding) at 62.006 km - 63.205 km (Hezhong Tunnel – Heren Tunnel Section) for the Fire Extinguisher Replacement Work

Control Period: July 4, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Open for one direction of traffic once at a time for both directions traffic. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction. (Traffic controls for do not apply on weekends and public holidays.)

 

3. Provincial Highway 9 at 159.3 km (Daqingshui Tunnel) for the Rockfall Prevention Tunnel Construction Work (158.2 km Daqingshui ~ 161.3 km Huide Tunnel North Entrance

Control Period: July 3, 2023 ~ July 28, 2023

Control Time: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (No traffic controls between 12:00 and 13:00.)

Passage time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 9:00 am – 9:10 am, 10:00 – 10:10, 11:00 – 11:10, etc.) Traffic controls do not apply from 12:00 – 13:00.

Open for one direction of traffic once at a time for both directions traffic. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction. (Traffic controls for do not apply weekends and public holidays.)

Control Period: July 3, 2023 ~ July 6, 2023

Control Time: 20:00 pm to the next morning 4:00 am (Night time)

Passage time: Every 2 hours on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 20:00 pm – 20:10 pm, 22:00 – 22:10, etc.)

Open for one direction of traffic once at a time for both directions traffic. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction. Please plan your trip ahead.

 

4. Provincial Highway 9D at 62.4 km (Hezhong Rockfall Protection Tunnel) for the Tunnel Construction Work

Control Period: July 1, 2023 ~ July 30, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work

The Second Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Puli Works Section) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety on Provincial Highway 14A (14 Jia).

Construction Work on Provincial Highway 14A will be the following:

 

1. Provincial Highway 14A at 18.7 km (Cuifeng Section) for the Rockfall Emergency Repair Work

Control Time: 7:00 am -19:00 pm  

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (Traffic controls for do not apply on weekends and public holidays.)

Road Closed Time: 19:00 to the next morning 7:00 am (Night Time)
