Changchun Shrine Old Road Temporarily Closed for Land/rockslide Prevention Tunnel Installation, Construction Postponed until December 31th, 2020

To improve Park safety, Taroko National Park Headquarters has scheduled land/rockslide prevention tunnel installation between Old Changchun Bridge and New Changchun Bridge on the old Highway 8 (Central Cross-Island Highway). Due to construction need, the construction will be postponed to December 31, 2020. Therefore, this section from west Changchun Bridge via Chunhun Bridge (Changguan Temple white gate) to new Changchun Bridge will be temporarily closed. Please take note and abide by these control measures.

Visitors will still be able to enter Changchun Shrine (Eternal Spring Shrine) observation platform. Please return via the same route back to Provincial Highway 8. Due to the limit road space of the west of Changchun Tunnel on the Provincial Highway 8, turning right (bound for Taroko and Hualien) is not permitted for the 20-sitter and 40- sitter buses while departing the Changchun (Eternal Spring) Shrine area.

Taroko National Park Headquarters stated that if the above rockfall prevention tunnel project is completed earlier, we will be cancelled old road closure. At the same time, these projects will be implemented in a way that will minimize effects on tourism and traffic. We ask that tourists kindly cooperate with the above measures and to follow the instructions of on-site construction personnel. In the case of inclement weather, the above construction periods may be altered or postponed; if so, the Park Headquarters will announce any changes on this website.
