Provincial Highway 8 traffic control information for June 2020.

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Taroko Works Division) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety within Taroko National Park. There will be roadwork between 112 km – 187 km on Provincial Highway 8 (Dayuling – Taroko) from June 1, 2020– June 30, 2020.

Specifically:

 

1. Provincial Highway 14A (Jia) at 34 km + 200m for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 17:00 pm

Control Period : June 1, 2020– June 30, 2020

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on construction conditions.

 

2. Provincial Highway 8 at 122 km + 600m (Jima Tunnel Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 17:00 pm

Control Period : June 1, 2020– June 30, 2020

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on construction conditions.

 

3. Provincial Highway 8 at 125 km + 400m (Bilu Secret Tree) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 17:00 pm

Control Period : June 1, 2020– June 30, 2020

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on construction conditions.

 

4. Provincial Highway 8 at 131 km (Ci’en Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 7:30 am – 17:30 pm

Control Period : June 1, 2020– June 30, 2020

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the half hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 07:30 – 07:40, 08:30 – 08:40, 09:30 – 09:40, etc.)

 

 

5. Provincial Highway 8 at 148.3 km (Hualuxi Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 17:00 pm

Control Period : June 1, 2020– June 30, 2020

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00 – 08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10, etc.)

 

6. Provincial Highway 8 at 156 km for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 17:00 pm

Control Period : June 1, 2020– June 5, 2020

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on construction conditions.

 

7. Provincial Highway 8 at 169 km + 650 m (Tianxiang Section) for the New Rockfall Prevention Tunnel Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 17:00 pm

Control Period : June 1, 2020– June 10, 2020

Passage Time: Please follow the traffic lights (Sun – Mon, including public holidays)

 

8. Provincial Highway 8 at 182.7 km (Ning’an Bridge) for the slope stabilization work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Control Period: June 10, 2020– June 30, 2020

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on construction conditions.

 

9. Provincial Highway 8 at 177- 180 km (Jinheng Bridge – Xipan) for the road pavement repair work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Control Period: June 1, 2020– June 30, 2020

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on construction conditions.

 

Note: Traffic control for all the above construction sites do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

 

Visitors who are planning to visit Taroko Gorge (the 19km section between Taroko – Tianxiang) will be affected by #7-9 of the above list (for both directions). Visitors who are heading to Taichung or Puli, Nantou from Taroko National Park Headquarters via Provincial Highway 8 & 14A (14 Jia) will be affected by #1-9 of the above list (for both directions).

 

The Directorate General of Highways urges drivers that, after a week after earthquake or heavy rain, roads in mountain areas are prone to rockfall and that it is advisable to avoid driving on these roads. Please remember to check the Provincial Highway real-time road condition bulletin, listen to police traffic road broadcasts, pay attention to road traffic related information, and plan your itinerary ahead of your trip. Provincial Highway 9 traffic control information for June 2020

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Taroko Works Section) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety on Provincial Highway 9.

 

1.     159.2 km (Old highway marker 172.7 km) (Qingshui Seciton) for the Steel Tunnel Maintenance work.

Traffic Control Dates: May 30, 2020 – June 16, 2020

Traffic Control Time: 08:00 am – 18:00 pm

Passage time: Please follow the traffic lights and on-site traffic control personnel’s direction.

 

Note: Traffic control for all the above construction sites do not apply on weekends and public holidays.
