To improve Park safety, Taroko National Park Headquarters has scheduled slope scrubbing (land/rockslide prevention) from 15 October 2019 on Eternal Spring Shrine (Changchun Shrine), Swallow Grotto (Yanzikou) trail. Therefore, the trail and scenic spot will either be temporarily closed or crowd control measures will be implemented. Please take note and abide by these control measures. Besides, Daqishui and Chongde restrooms will be under repair from 16 October 2019 to 22 January 2020 (the day before Chinese New Year). There will be restrooms provided temporarily for tourists.

Details of trail closure due to slope scrubbing are as follows:

  1. Changchun (Eternal Spring) Shrine Trail: Slope scrubbing will be carried out between Changchun Bridge – Changchung Temple Entrance Gate on the Central Cross-Island old highway 8 section from 15 (Tue) to 22 (Tue) October 2019. Crowd control will be implemented daily from 07:00 – 10:00 and from 12:00 – 15:00. Except the abovementioned time, visitors will still be able to enter this old highway section.
  2. Yanzikou (Swallow Grotto) Trail: Slope scrubbing will be carried out between the 590 m to 620 m section from 28 (Mon) October to 1 (Fri) November 2019. The entire trail will be temporarily closed from 8:00 am to 17:00 pm during this period.
  3. Daqishui and Chongde restrooms (on Provincial Highway 9) will be under renovation from 16 October 2019 to 22 January 2020 (before Chinese New Year). There will be restrooms provided temporarily for tourists.

Taroko National Park Headquarters maintains that the above slope scrubbing and restrooms repair projects are necessary to mitigate landslides and rockfalls, and will ultimately strengthen tourist safety. We ask that tourists kindly cooperate with the listed measures and to follow the instructions of on-site construction personnel. In the case of inclement weather, the above construction periods may be altered or postponed; if so, the Park Headquarters will announce any changes on this website.
