Road Open/Road Construction Traffic Control

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Taroko Works Division) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety within Taroko National Park. There will be roadwork between 124.28 km – 171.9 km on Provincial Highway 8 (Jinma Bilu Section – Cimu Bridge) from 01 October – 30 October 2019. Specifically:

 

1. Provincial Highway 8 at 124.28 km (Jinma-Bilu Section) for the road damages repair work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 17:00 pm

Control Period : 1 October 2019– 31 October 2019

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00 – 08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10, etc.)

 

2. Provincial Highway 8 at 131 km (Ci’en Section) for the slope stabilization work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Control Period: 1 October 2019– 31 October 2019

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the half hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 07:30 – 07:40, 08:30 – 08:40, 09:30 – 09:40, 10:30 – 10:40, etc.)

 

3. Provincial Highway 8 at 148.5 km (Hualuxi Section) for the slope stabilization work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Control Period: 1 October 2019– 31 October 2019

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00 – 08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10, etc.)

 

4. Provincial Highway 8 at 159 km (Hengshan Tunnel) for the slope stabilization work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Control Period: 1 October 2019– 31 October 2019

Passage time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on construction conditions.

 

5. Provincial Highway 8 at 162.1 km (Xibao Section)

Traffic Control Time: 8:30 am – 5:30 pm

Control Period: 1 October 2019– 31 October 2019

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the half hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:30 – 08:40, 09:30 – 09:40, 10:30 – 10:40, etc.)

 

6. Provincial Highway 8 at 171.9 km (Cimu Bridge)

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Control Period: 1 October 2019– 31 October 2019

Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00 – 08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10, etc.)

 

Note: Traffic control for all the above construction sites do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

 

Visitors who are planning to visit Taroko Gorge (the 19km section between Taroko – Tianxiang) will be affected by #6 of the above list (for both directions). Visitors who are heading to Taichung or Puli, Nantou from Taroko National Park Headquarters via Provincial Highway 8 & 14A (14 Jia) will be affected by #1-6 of the above list (for both directions).

 

The Directorate General of Highways urges drivers that, after a week after earthquake or heavy rain, roads in mountain areas are prone to rockfall and that it is advisable to avoid driving on these roads. Please remember to check the Provincial Highway real-time road condition bulletin, listen to police traffic road broadcasts, pay attention to road traffic related information, and plan your itinerary ahead of your trip. Open/ Provincial Highway 9 traffic control information for October 2019

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Nan'ao Works Section) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety on Provincial Highway 9.

 

There will be roadwork 149.7 km (Guanyin Section) on the Provincial Highway 9 from 01 August – 31 December 2019. Specifically:


149.7 km (Guanyin Section)for the road repair construction work.

Traffic Control Dates: 01 August 2019 – 31 December 2019

Passage Time: to be determined by on-site traffic lights. Closure of south lane for construction on a two-lane highway; remaining north lane to alternate traffic directions by traffic lights or by the on-site traffic control personnel’s direction.
