Taroko- Shakadang Trail pavement improvement Construction Work
Shakadang trail under renovation from 16th September to 1st November 2019 partially open and closure
 

To improve Shakadang Trail safety, Taroko National Park Headquarters has scheduled pavement and drainage facilities improvement work from 16 September to 1 November 2019. Therefore, Shakadang trail will either be temporarily closed or crowd control measures will be implemented. Please take note and abide by these control measures.

Details of trail partially open and closure due to pavement improvement and drainage repair are as follows:

1. The trail head to 0.5 km section is open: The trail pavement and drainage repair will be carried out between 0.5km and 4.1 km section from 16 (Mon) – 22 (Sun ) September 2019. The second half of the trail will be temporarily closed during this period. The first half of the trail (from the entrance to 0.5 km) will remain open during this period. Please return at 0.5 km point via the same route.
2. The entire Shakadang Trail is closed: The trail pavement and drainage repair will be carried out from trail head to 0.5km point from 23 (Mon) September to 9 (Wed) October 2019. The entire trail will be temporarily closed during this period.
3. Shakadang Trail will be open for Double Tenth Day consecutive holidays from 10 (Thur) – 13 (Sun) October 2019. Due to the Taroko gorge music festival, the entire trail is open from 26 (Sat) - 27 (Sun) October 2019.   
4. The Shakadang Trail is entirely closed from 14 (Mon) October to 1^st (Fri) November 2019.

Taroko National Park Headquarters maintains that the above trail pavement improvement projects are necessary to strengthen tourist safety. In the case of inclement weather, the above construction periods may be altered or postponed; if so, the Park Headquarters will announce any changes on this website.
