Summer Travel Tips for Tunnel of Nine Turns
As there is no available parking at Tunnel of Nine Turns (Jiuqudong), and as the summer peak season approaches, please take a public bus to avoid traffic congestion. Discounts apply to Taroko Bus 302 and Hualien Bus 1133A (Taiwan Shuttle Bus- Taroko Route); details are as follows:
A: Hualien Bus 1133A (Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Bus- Taroko Route) - Departing from Hualien railway station bound for Tianxiang, stopping at Qixingtan, Xincheng railway station, Taroko, Taroko National Park HQ - Visitor Center, Shakadang, Buluowan, Swallow Grotto (Yanzikou), Tunnel of Nine Turns (Jiuqudong), Heliu Campground, Lushui and Tianxiang.
Special discount offer:
- July 1 – September 30: Take a train paid by electronic ticket (e.g. : Taipei Metro Easy Card, I-pass, or I-cash) and transfer by taking a public bus. Transfer passengers will get 8 km bus ride for free as a discount.
- Summer vacation (July 1 – September 30): Passengers taking Hualien Bus 1133A (Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Bus- Taroko Route) will receive 50% off when using electronic forms of payment.
Visitors are also advised to purchase a one-day package ticket at the bus station outside Hualien Train Station (East Exit) or any 7-ELEVEN convenient store (I-Bon machine) or Family Mart (Famiport machine). A one-day package ticket provides unlimited travel on Hualien Buses #1126, #1129, #1133, #1133A, and #1141.
B: Taroko Bus 302 (electric bus) - Departing from Xincheng railway station bound for Tianxiang, stopping at Liiko Hotel, Asia Cement Factory, Kele, Fushi Elementary School, Taroko, Taroko National Park HQ - Visitor Center, Shakadang, Xipan, Swallow Grotto (Yanzikou), Tunnel of Nine Turns (Juiqudong), Heliu Campground, Lushui and Tianxiang.

- Passengers can purchase a one-day package ticket providing unlimited travel on Taroko Bus 302. A limited offer of 1000 day-package tickets at 50 NT (original priced at 150 NT) is currently on offer.
Please note that day passes for each bus company are not mutually exclusive (i.e. day passes for Taroko Bus 302 will not work on Bus 1133A and v. v.).
