Provincial Highway 8 traffic control information for July 2019

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Taroko Maintenance Office) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety within Taroko National Park. There will be roadwork between 119.3 km – 184.1 km on Provincial Highway 8 (Bilu Tunnel –Changchun unnel) from 01 July – 31 July 2019. Specifically:

 

1. Provincial Highway 8 at 119.3 km (Bilu Tunnel Section), 120.13 km (Guanyuan Section), 148.5 (Hualuxi Section), 162.1km (Xibao Section)

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10, etc.)


2. Provincial Highway 8 at 169.7 km (Tianxiang Section)

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Passage Time: accessibility follows traffic lights.

 

3. Provincial Highway 8 at 173.1 km (West of Jiuqudong Tunnel Section)

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10, etc.)

 

4. Provincial Highway 8 at 184.1 km (Changchunchi Tunnel- Eternal Spring Shrine Section)

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Passage Time: Every hourly on the half hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:30 – 08:40, 09:30 – 09:40, 10:30 – 10:40, etc.)

Note: Traffic control for all the above construction sites do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

 

Visitors who are planning to visit Taroko Gorge (the 19km section between Taroko – Tianxiang) will be affected by the above list (for both directions) #2-4. Visitors who are heading to Taichung or Puli, Nantou via Provincial Highway 14A (14 Jia) will be affected by #1-4 of the above list (for both directions).

 

The Directorate General of Highways reminds drivers to check the Provincial Highway real-time road condition bulletin, listen to police traffic road broadcasts, pay attention to road traffic related information, and plan your itinerary ahead of your trip.
