Swallow Grotto Trail will be temporarily closed in January 2019.

Rockfall Prevention Construction Work will be conducted at Swallow Grotto Trail (Yanzikou)
For the safety of visitors, the trails will be temporarily closed during the periods January 2nd – January 11th, January 14th – January 18th, and January 21th – January 25th 2019. Tourists are advised to take notice of the closure dates and obey the control measures of the closed trail.
 
To reinforce tourist safety, Taroko National Park Administration will be conducting 3 stages of rockfall prevention construction work:
First: January 2nd – January 11th for cliff surface concrete stabilization and rebar nets,
Second: January 14th – January 18th for cliff surface concrete work,
Third: January 21th – January 25th for installation of rockfall prevention nets, steel frames hanging and safety net stabilization work.

The Swallow Grotto Trail will be open on weekends: January 12- January 13, and January 19 – January 20, 2019. There will be no construction on these two weekends.   
 
The Taroko National Park Headquarters Management Office has stated that the rockfall prevention construction work is necessary for reinforcing tourists’ safety. The administration will attempt to minimize the impact of construction work on tourists’ recreational activities and traffic. Please cooperate with the construction personnels’ instructions. In the event of inclement weather, extension or modification of the construction period may occur. Taroko National Park Headquarters Management Office will announce any changes via the official website.
