Traffic Control Info for Provincial Highway 9 (Su-hua Highway)

1. To inspect and verify management methods after the opening, and to strengthen the rescue capability of the management unit and the joint defense unit, the General Directorate of Highways (The District Four Maintenance Office) is scheduled to conduct drills on Provincial Highway 9 on November 8 from 10:00am to 11:00pm. The situation will simulate "a major accident in the tunnel and overall emergency response measures to this incident".
The drills are to enhance the handling ability and familiarity of responders by measuring the differences in size, scale, and carrying capacity, and verifying the evacuation strategy through traffic management operations outside the area. In order to conduct this drill, Provincial Highway 9 from Su’ao to Dong'ao will be temporarily closed from 10:00am to 11:00am on November 8. Motorists travelling from Su’ao to Hualien will need to alter the route to Provincial Highway 9D (Old Su-hua Highway). Please cooperate with the on-site traffic control during this time. After the drill is completed, the road will immediately be open to traffic. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

2. Provincial Highway 9 at 164.6km (Heren section) 
Traffic Control Dates: October 30th to November 30th, 2018
Traffic Control Schedule: 8:00am to 17:00pm 
Passage time: once every 30 minutes. The road will be open to traffic one direction at a time for both directions. 
*Note: The traffic controls do not apply on weekends and public holidays.
 
3. Provincial Highway 9 at 172.7 km and 173.3km (Qingshui section) New Rockfall Prevention Tunnels Construction Work   
Traffic Control Dates: October 16th to December 31th, 2018
Traffic Control Schedule: 8:00am to 17:00pm
The north-bound lanes will be closed for road construction work. Passage will be controlled by traffic lights on the south bound lanes. The road will be open to traffic one direction at a time for both directions. 
 
Please follow the on-site personnel’s direction to pass through the construction zone.
 
Notice from Directorate General of Highways: Please pay attention for your own safety. In the event of an earthquake or up to a week after heavy rains, please do not enter the mountain road. Please plan ahead before your trip. Have a safe and pleasant journey!
