The Dong'ao Tunnel on Provincial Highway 9 is temporarily closed from April 10th to May 31st from Monday to Friday at 8am to 8:30am for tunnel safety equipment testing (test schedule is as follows) When travelling to and from Su’ao and Hualien, please abide by the on-site traffic control, or alter course to Provincial Highway 9D (Old Su-hua Highway). After the test is completed, the road will immediately be open to traffic. Sorry for the inconvenience.
1. Provincial Highway 9 at 123.8km (Dong’ao Road section) is under construction for the delivery of construction materials.

2. Provincial Highway 9 at 163.9k and nearby Hezhong section of the highway is under construction for Highway Slope Stabilization Work

Traffic Control Schedule: 8am to 17:00 daily
Passage Time: In general, closed periods will not exceed 30 minutes at a time
3. Provincial Highway 9 at 164.7 km and Zhongming Tunnel for Highway tunnel construction work traffic control *(night construction)
Traffic Control Dates: April 10th to April 20th
Traffic Control Schedule: 18:00 to 24:00 daily
Passage time: Passage permitted for one lane traffic at a time only. Please follow the on-site personnel’s direction to pass through the construction zone.
*Note: The traffic controls do not apply on weekends and public holidays.
4. Provincial Highway 9 Su’ao to Dong’ao section was officially opened to traffic on February 5th, 2018. To inspect and verify management methods after the opening, and to strengthen the rescue capability of the management unit and the joint defense unit, the General Directorate of Highways The District Four Maintenance Office is scheduled to conduct drills on Provincial Highway 9 on April 23 and 24 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. The simulated situation is "a major accident in the tunnel causing a fire and a large number of injuries. The drills are to enhance the handling ability and familiarity of responders by measuring the differences in size, scale, and carrying capacity, and verifying the evacuation strategy through traffic management operations outside the area.
