Buluowan (Temporarily closed due to earthquake damage.)
NOTE:
The Buluowan service station is closed due to severe damage caused by 403 Earthquake and typhoons in 2024. On April 3, 2024, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck Hualien, followed by the impact of Typhoon Kong-rey on October 31, causing severe damage to the park east section of Taroko Gorge (Taroko to Tianxiang).
Passing through Changchun Tunnel and across Ning'an Bridge, 300 m after Xipan Dam you will reach the starting point of Chinese character "Zhi" (zigzag) shaped road to the Buluowan terraces. It will take approximately seven minutes by car to reach the parking area at the lower terrace of the valley.
Buluowan is divided into Upper Terrace and Lower Terrace. You can walk on a trail to visit the river valley from the Lower Terrace. Then you can proceed to the service station, exhibition halls and Idas (meaning moon in the Truku tribe language) Hall see both the arts and crafts of the Truku Tribe and multimedia presentations. Up the slope to Taroko Village Hotel (Shanyue Village), the Formosa lily is probably the main attraction for spring visitors to Buluowan. The lily season is from mid April to mid May. On the upper terrace, go through the service center of Taroko Village Hotel and there is a 300 meter Upper Terrace trail, where you can observe the strangling fig trees.
