**Provincial Highway 14A: High-Altitude Sections at Risk of Icy Road Conditions Preventive Road Closure to Be Implemented from 5:00 p.m. Today (Jan. 27)**

(Forwarded from the Central Region Maintenance Branch of the Highway Bureau, Traffic Management and Control Center)

According to information from the Central Weather Administration, affected by the northeastern monsoon and low temperatures, high-altitude sections above 3,000 meters on Provincial Highway 14A are at risk of icy road conditions. To ensure the safety of road users, the Central Region Maintenance Branch will implement a preventive road closure on Provincial Highway 14A from Cuifeng (km 18) to Dayuling (km 41.5) starting at 5:00 p.m. today (Jan. 27).
During the closure period, vehicles will be allowed to exit but not enter the controlled section. In addition, considering that the section between Wuling (km 31.7) and Songxue Lodge (km 32.7) is narrow, winding, and prone to skidding, this section will be fully closed in both directions, and all traffic will be prohibited.
The road authority will reassess weather and road conditions at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow (Jan. 28) and determine whether to allow passage for vehicles equipped with snow chains only or to fully reopen the road.
Road users are advised to check weather forecasts and road conditions in advance, carry snow chains in their vehicles, and proceed with caution.
Reminder to road users:
Mountain weather conditions are severe and can change rapidly. Traffic control sections and measures may be adjusted dynamically based on on-site conditions. In accordance with the 2026 Hehuanshan (Mt. Hehuan) Snow Season Regulations, when snowfall or icy road conditions occur, Class A and Class B large passenger vehicles, trucks exceeding 3.5 tons (both large and small), and all types of motorcycles (including large heavy motorcycles) are prohibited from entering the controlled sections.
In addition, Provincial Highway 8 Temporary Route 37 (Central Cross-Island Highway temporary access road) will add a night passage at 5:30 p.m., limited to agricultural product transport trucks from the whole Lishan area, traveling from Deji toward Guguan only.
Road users planning to travel on Provincial Highways 8 and 14A are urged to note that mountain road conditions during the snow season are difficult to predict. Unless necessary, travel is discouraged. Before departure, please prepare proper personal equipment and vehicle snow chains, closely monitor weather forecasts and traffic information, and plan alternative routes in advance.
For the latest road information, please tune in to Police Broadcasting Service (FM 94.5) and observe traffic control messages displayed on roadside Changeable Message Signs (CMS). Road conditions can also be checked via the Highway Bureau’s Real-Time Provincial Highway Information Service, the “Happy Highway” mobile app, or by calling the Central Region Maintenance Branch at 04-23715030 or the Highway Bureau Road User Service Center toll-free line at 0800-231-035.
The Directorate General of Highways wishes you a safe journey.
