New Year's Eve Safety Reminder for Wuling, Mt. Hehuan
Low Temperatures and Heavy Crowds — Please Stay Safe
Due to New Year's Eve activities, a large number of visitors are expected at Wuling, Mt. Hehuan, and surrounding areas tonight.
The Taroko National Park Headquarters (Taroko N. P. HQ) reminds the public that temperatures in high mountain areas drop sharply after nightfall during winter, often approaching 0°C or even lower.
Visitors planning to watch the sunrise or stargaze are advised to dress warmly with proper cold-weather gear and carefully assess their physical condition before traveling.
The Taroko N. P. HQ, Ninth Division, the Seventh Special Police Corps, National Police Agency, Nantou County Police Department, and the Nantou Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency will deploy additional personnel to maintain order, discourage illegal activities, and assist with environmental cleanliness.

Recommended stay: No longer than 1 hour
Elevation exceeds 3,000 meters — be aware of altitude sickness risks
Do not drive while fatigued or stay overnight outdoors in mountain areas
If you feel unwell, descend immediately
❄️ Snow Season & High-Altitude Safety
Low nighttime temperatures combined with strong winds can significantly reduce perceived temperature.
Please wear windproof and thermal clothing, avoid prolonged stays in open areas, and prioritize personal safety.
🚫 No Illegal Activities — Help Protect the Mountain Environment
Wuling, Mt. Hehuan is located within a National Park and Forest Recreation Area. Please comply with the National Park Act and Forestry Act. The following activities are strictly prohibited:
Setting up stalls
Fireworks or firecrackers
Cooking or hot pot activities
Camping or barbecuing
Littering
Dangerous activities such as burning tires
Climbing the Wuling Pavilion
Illegal parking
Any other behavior that may endanger public safety or cause disputes
Numerous violations have been penalized in the past.
Offenders may be fined up to NT$3,000, as such actions not only harm the environment but also pose serious safety risks. Please do not break the law.
🚓 Traffic and Control Advisory
Heavy traffic is expected on New Year’s Eve. Police will strengthen traffic control and impose necessary restrictions.
Provincial Highway 14A is narrow; please follow police instructions, do not speed, do not park illegally, and do not drive against traffic, to ensure road safety.
