Easy Half-Day Self-Driving Trip
Recommended:
Taroko Visitor Center → Taroko Terrace Trail → Chongde Recreation Area (North Entrance of Chongde Tunnel on Provincial Highway 9)→ Xincheng Old Street
Taroko Terrace Trail/ Length: 1 km/ Walking time: 50–60 mins
One-Day Self-Driving (or taxi tour) Trip
1. Suggested Route: Taroko Visitor Center → Tianxiang → Xiangde Temple → Tabiduo Trail → Lushui Trail (partial open) → Xincheng Old Street
2. Gorge & Forest Route: Tianxiang → Tabiduo Trail → Lushui Trail
3. Hiking Route: Lushui–Wenshan Trail / Partial opening to Tuoyou’en → Return / About 1 hour round trip
Two-Day Dali–Datong Hiking Route (or by Bus / self-driving)
Day 1 → Hualien (or Xincheng train station) → Taroko → Dekalun trail→ Dali → Datong → Overnight stay
Day 2 →Datong village → Dali village Datong village →Dekalun trail → Taroko Visitor Center →Xincheng train station (or Hualien)
Long-distance mountain villages route (starting from Taroko Visitor Center → Dekalun trail → Datong Trail (overnight stay) → return → Taroko Visitor Center - about 10-12 hours round trip. )

Due to damage caused by the April 3, 2024 earthquake, the Shakadang Trail remains closed. Please do not enter the Shakadang from Dali or Datong Villages.
Two-Day Mt. Hehuan Trip (self-driving)
Day 1 → Taroko → Overnight stay at Guanyuan or Mt. Hehuan
(Note: Please check Provincial Highway 8 traffic control information inadvance.)
Day 2 → Mt. Hehuan → Choose 1–2 trails (a half-day) → Return trip → Taroko or Nantou

NOTE: Visitors are advised to reserve one night of accommodation at Guanyuan Kuan Yun Lodge, Songxue Lodge, or Ski Lodge or B&B near by the Qingjing Farm area in advance. Staying overnight to adapt to the high-altitude environment before visiting Mt. Hehuan may help reduce the risk of altitude sickness.
