Prohibited Activities Regulations in the Domain of Taroko National Park

The penalty for violating the regulations is a fine from NTD600~3000.

Amended and promulgated by Order Tai-Nei-Ying-Zi No.1110809867 of the Ministry of the Interior on June 28, 2022, by amending Regulation 6; effective on the date of promulgation

  • Unauthorized display, sale, transport, or storage of animals, plants, minerals, and their specimens or processed products prohibited by the National Park Act and related laws is prohibited.
  • Unauthorized setting of nets, traps, leg-hold devices, or carrying other tools capable of harming or poisoning wildlife is prohibited.
  • Unauthorized establishment of stalls, itinerant vending, or performance activities outside designated areas is prohibited.
  • Earth filling, land leveling, or dumping soil and rocks is prohibited.
  • Setting up votive facilities, graves, posting advertisements or mobile ads, hanging or placing road or trail signs, or other facilities impairing the landscape is prohibited.
  • Making loud noise, playing, performing, or blowing musical instruments, using sound devices, camping, cooking, barbecuing, skiing, grass skiing, swimming, river tracing, rafting, rock climbing, erecting tents or shelters, operating remote-controlled devices, or other activities endangering public safety outside designated areas is prohibited.
  • Discarding or leaving plastic bottles, Styrofoam, plastic products, metal products, food waste, or other non-biodegradable items or refuse outside designated areas is prohibited.
  • Making fires, barbecuing, or lighting firecrackers, fireworks, joss paper, or other objects endangering public safety within the park is prohibited.
  • Occupying parking spaces designated for specific persons, or parking outside designated areas contrary to instructions causing traffic disruption is prohibited.
  • Damaging, defacing, or carving on public property or facilities is prohibited.
  • Abandoning or releasing animals, or feeding wild or stray animals is prohibited.
  • Entering areas announced as closed (including non-opening hours) without permission, or entering the Zhuilu Old Road without prior approval is prohibited.
  • Bringing pets into the Ecological Protection Area, Historic Preservation Area, or Special Landscape Area (except along the highway) is prohibited; except within settlements, bringing pets into recreation or General Controlled Areas without leash, cage, or other protective measures is prohibited. Exceptions apply for persons with visual, auditory, or physical disabilities accompanied by qualified service dogs, or trainers with puppies in training.
  • Changing approved route, itinerary, or campsite location in the Ecological Protection Area without authorization, except to avoid emergencies, is prohibited.
  • Entering closed trails (including non-opening hours) or leaving existing routes of open trails without authorization is prohibited.
  • Erecting monuments, plaques, or other commemorative facilities without authorization is prohibited.
  • Conducting political acts or activities causing social controversy or conflicts is prohibited.
