Provincial Highway 8 & 9 Traffic Control Information for February 2023. The road opens 4 times a day for road users between Mt. Hehuan Police Station (114.6 km) and Jinma Tunnel East Opening (120.6 km) on Provincial Highway 8.

Provincial Highway 8 & 14A (14 Jia) Traffic Control Information for January 30, 2023 - February 28, 2023

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Taroko Works Division) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety within Taroko National Park. There will be roadwork between 32.7 km – 41.5 km on Provincial Highway 14A (14Jia) and 110.2 km – 187.7 km on Provincial Highway 8 (Dayuling – Taroko) from January 30, 2023 – February 28, 2023.

Specifically:  

 

1. Provincial Highway 8 at 129 km + 800 m (Cihang Bridge section) for the Slope Improvement Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 7:30 am – 17:30 pm

Control Period: January 30, 2023 – February 28, 2023

Passage time: Every 1 hour on the half hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 07:30-07:40, 08:30 – 08:40, 09:30 – 09:40, 10:30 – 10:40 etc.)

Open one direction of traffic once at a time for both direction traffic.

 

2. Provincial Highway 8 at 155 km + 680 m (Xuejiachang section- near Xibao) for the Slope Improvement Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 7:30 am – 17:30 pm

Control Period: January 30, 2023 – February 28, 2023

Passage time: Every 1 hour on the half hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 07:30-07:40, 08:30 – 08:40, 09:30 – 09:40, 10:30 – 10:40 etc.)

Open one direction of traffic once at a time for both direction traffic.

 

Traffic controls for #1-2 construction sites do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

 

3. Starting January 30, 2023, traffic controls are implemented at the 117 km + 400 m Guanyuan Disaster Road Section of Provincial Highway 8. The control section is from Jinma Tunnel's east entrance at 114.6 km highway marker (about 64 kilometers away from Taroko Arch Gate) to Guanyuan at 120.6 km (about 4 kilometers away from Dayuling). The passage period will be adjusted, respectively, 4 times a day from (1) 7:00 am - 8:00 am, (2) 10:00 am passage once, (3) 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, and (4) 3:00 pm passage once. There are four times passages daily in total.

 

The emergency repair team will arrange personnel to guard and control the 117.4k disaster site on Provincial Highway 8 during each passage time. The construction site traffic control will open on time, depending on the slope conditions. Please wait patiently at the control point before the passage time. Please cooperate, drive carefully and pass sequentially; the emergency repair team also reminds drivers that the disaster road section is still in the emergency repair stage. During the passage period, drivers should be aware that if the weather conditions are not good (heavy rainfall, dense fog cannot monitor the slope, etc.) the emergency repair team is permitted to close the road and prohibiting the passage of people and vehicles.

Road Closed Control Period: January 30, 2023 – Febuary 28, 2023

Passage time: (1) 7:00 am - 8:00 am, (2) 10:00 am once, (3) 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, and (4) 3:00 pm once.

Road closed time: 24hr including public holidays and weekends

Provincial Highway 9 & 9D Road Construction information for February 2023

Road Open/Construction Traffic Control.

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Nan'ao Works Section) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety on Provincial Highway 9.

 

The Provincial Highway 9 & 9D will be the Slop Construction Work as the following:

 

  1. Provincial Highway 9D at 62.4 km (Hezhong Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Control Period: January 31, 2023 - February 3, 2023

Control Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Passage time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 15 minutes (e.g.: 8:00-8:15, 09:00-09:15, 10:00-10:15, etc.)

 

Please follow the on-site personnel instruction. Open one direction of traffic once at a time for both direction traffic.

 

  1. The Provincial Highway 9 at 159 km + 300 m (Daqingshui Tunnel Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Control Period: From 8 am February 1, 2023 – 12 pm (noon) on February 24, 2023

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am to 21:00 pm

Passage time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 15 minutes (e.g.: 8:00-8:15, 09:00-09:15, 10:00-10:15, etc.)

Please follow the on-site personnel instruction. Open one direction of traffic once at a time for both direction traffic.

During the passage period, one on-site personnel is arranged to monitor the slope condition and two traffic control personnel are on guard at the construction site of the disaster point. Road users are advised to drive carefully and cooperate with the on-site personnel to pass through this construction site quickly.

 

  1. Provincial Highway 9 at 119 km + 400 m (Nan’ao Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Control Period: February 1, 2022– February 20, 2022

Traffic Control Time: 9 am to 5 pm

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work

Open one direction of traffic once at a time for both direction traffic. Please follow the on-site personnel instruction.

Traffic controls for #2-3 construction sites do not apply on weekends and public holidays.
