Provincial Highway 8 and 14A (14Jia) Traffic Control Information for October 2021.

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Taroko Works Division) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety within Taroko National Park. There will be roadwork between 32.7 km – 41.5 km on Provincial Highway 14A (14Jia) and 110.2 km – 184.5 km on Provincial Highway 8 (Dayuling – Taroko) from October 1, 2021 – October 31, 2021.

Specifically:

 

1. Provincial Highway 14A (14Jia) at 32 km + 990 m – 37 km (Songxue Lodge – Xiaofengkou Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 18:00 pm

Control Period: October 1, 2021– October 31, 2021

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00 – 08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10 etc.)

Open one direction of traffic once at a time for both direction traffic.

 

2. Provincial Highway 8 at 117k+380 (Guanyuan section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 17:00 pm

Control Period: October 1, 2021– October 31, 2021

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00 – 08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10 etc.)

Open one direction of traffic once at a time for both direction traffic.

 

3. Provincial Highway 8 at 140 km + 923 m (Hengshan Tunnel Section) and 164 km + 880 m (Xibao Tunnel Section) for the Tunnel Repair Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 17:00 pm

Control Period: October 1, 2021– October 31, 2021

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on checking work

Open one direction of traffic once at a time for both direction traffic.

 

4. Provincial Highway 8 at 161k+300 (Xibao section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 17:00 pm

Control Period: October 1, 2021– October 31, 2021

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00 – 08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10 etc.)

Open one direction of traffic once at a time for both direction traffic.

 

5. Provincial Highway 8 at 166 km + 800 m (Baiyang Trail Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 17:00 pm

Control Period: October 1, 2021– October 31, 2021

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the half hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:30 – 08:40, 09:30 – 09:40, 10:30 – 10:40 etc.)

Open one direction of traffic once at a time for both direction traffic.

 

6. Provincial Highway 8 at 168 km + 260 m (Tianxiang Section) for the New Rockfall Prevention Tunnel Construction Work

Control Period: October 1 – October 31, 2021

A: Control Period: Monday – Friday

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the half hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:30 – 08:40, 09:30 – 09:40, 10:30 – 10:40 etc.)

Open one direction of traffic once at a time for both direction traffic.

B: Traffic Control Time: 17:00 pm – the second morning 8:30 am (night time), weekends and public holidays

Passage Time: Accessibility follows the traffic lights. Open one direction of traffic once at a time for both direction traffic. (night time including public holidays)

 

7. Provincial Highway 8 at 182 km + 000 m (West Changchun Tunnel Section) for the Slope Stabilization Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 8:00 am – 17:00 pm

Control Period: October 1, 2021– October 31, 2021

Passage Time: Every 1 hour on the hour for 10 minutes (e.g. 08:00 – 08:10, 09:00 – 09:10, 10:00 – 10:10 etc.)

 

Note: Traffic controls for all the above construction sites do not apply on weekends and public holidays.

 

Visitors who are planning to visit Taroko Gorge (the 19 km section between Taroko – Tianxiang) will be affected by #6-7 of the above list (for both directions). Visitors who are heading to Taichung or Puli, Nantou from Taroko National Park Headquarters via Provincial Highway 8 & 14A (14Jia) will be affected by #1-7 of the above list (for both directions).

The Directorate General of Highways urges drivers that, after a week after earthquake or heavy rain, roads in mountain areas are prone to rockfall and that it is advisable to avoid driving on these roads. Please remember to check the Provincial Highway real-time road condition bulletin, listen to police traffic road broadcasts, pay attention to road traffic related information, and plan your itinerary ahead of your trip. Provincial Highway 9 Road Construction information for October 2021

 

The Fourth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways, MOTC (Nan'ao Works Section) is responsible for the maintenance of road safety on Provincial Highway 9.

 

The Highway 9 will be the Tunnel Side Wall Construction Work as the following:

Provincial Highway 9 at 161 km + 300 m ~162 km +760 m (Huide Tunnel) and 162 km + 993 m ~163 km + 337 m (Chongde Tunnel Section) for the Tunnel Repair Construction Work

Traffic Control Time: 18:00 pm – the Second Morning 3:00 am (Night Time)

Control Period: October 1, 2021– October 31, 2021

Passage Time: Not predetermined - accessibility depends on construction work

Please follow the on-site personnel instruction. Open one direction of traffic once at a time for both direction traffic. (Traffic control for the above construction sites do not apply on Double Ten National Day Holiday from October 9, 2021 – October 11, 2021.)
