Taroko National Park Headquarters will carry out pavement improvement construction from the Shakadang Tunnel to the Xila'an Tunnel starting January 3, 2023 to January 13, 2023 in order to improve the driving safety of tourists
The road will be closed during the construction period. Visitors can walk along the Shakadang tunnel sidewalk from the visitor center to Xiaozhuilu Trail and Shakadang Trail.Visitors are advised to pay attention to traffic safety during the construction period. In the case of inclement weather, the above construction periods may be altered or postponed; if so, the Park Headquarters will announce any changes on this website.
Note:
Bus service to the (1) Taroko Visitor Center and (2) Shakadang stops will be suspended from January 3rd to January 13th, 2023 due to pavement improvement construction in the Shakadang and Xila'an Tunnels. Tourists using public transportation will need to go to the Taroko stop - located 100 meters away of the Arch Gate (near the pharmacy) bound for Tianxiang. Sorry for the inconvenience.
