The Central Epidemic Command Center announced at a press conference on May 19, 2021, that the national epidemic alert is raised to Level 3 regulations. Taroko National Park Headquarters has also strengthened the implementation of related control measures at the park. These measures follow the “National Park Area Alert" mandate. The Level 3 control measures limit the people in recreational areas in response to the rise of domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases. The following control measures are enforced in the park.

Dongshi Forest District Office of the Forestry Bureau has closed the following trails: Hehuan Mountain, Mt. Hehuan East Peak, and Mt. Hehuanjian. These closures are for the protection of visitors in order to avoid an influx of people visiting these areas. Taroko National Park Headquarters announced that as of May 24, 2021, Mt. Hehuan Main Peak, Shimen Mountain, Mt. Hehuan North Peak, and Mt. Pingfeng will be temporarily closed until the Level 3 epidemic alert is lifted.

Taroko National Park Headquarters urges visitors to comply with all the epidemic prevention measures, including properly wearing face masks, hand washing with antibacterial soap, and maintaining social distancing (1 meter). Furthermore, people are urged to be diligent in self-health monitoring and stay current with the epidemic prevention measures. Taroko National Park Headquarters will abide by the latest epidemic prevention guidelines set by the Central Epidemic Command Center and adjust measures according to local conditions.
