Truku Tribal Music Festival and Traditional Dancing Event kicks off on March 6, 2021!

There is a series of music festivals that feature the music, dance, and culture of the Truku people. This year's first session will be in the afternoon of March 6 (Saturday), 2021, at the Taroko Terrace. Taroko National Park Management Office cordially invites you to the complete 80-minute program for a truly wonderful experience of the Truku traditional culture.

The Taroko National Park Headquarters Management Office announces that the Truku music festival will be held over four sessions on the following dates: March 6, June 5, September 4, and December 4. Each session of the tribal music festival will take place from 2:30 pm to 3:50 pm.

Each session has been extended from 40 minutes to 80 minutes, with ten traditional dance and music groups performing. The themes include the classic songs and dances of the Truku tribe and creative songs sung in the Truku language. In addition to singing and dancing, there will also be performances paired with the traditional musical instruments of the Truku tribe, including the Jew's Harp Guild, the Truku xylophone, and the short flute. In addition, community members have been invited to arrange activities to experience the Truku culture, such as ethnic clothes, rattan baskets, pounding millet, and traditional foods. The hope is to provide visitors a glimpse into the beautiful traditional life of the Truku people.

The Taroko National Park Headquarters Management Office states that the four-season concert series, the Truku Tribal Music Festival, will hold performances from 2:30 pm to 3:50 pm. The traditional cultural experience activities will be held from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.

The upcoming tribal music festival on the afternoon of March 6 will invite four groups and individuals from KTS Traditional Culture Creative Space, Pitayro Ukah, Canyon Duet, and Canyon Music and Dance Culture and Art Exchange Association. For traditional cultural experience activities, rattan weaving and trying on tribal clothes from the Datong and Dali community will be arranged. You can wear formal Truku attire and take pictures with rattan baskets on your back. There will also be someone who will explain to you the meaning of these items in the life and culture of the Truku people.

The Taroko National Park Headquarters Management Office states that the source materials for the musical instruments of the Truku people are all sourced from the local ecology. The Truku Tribe's dance and music's unique and excellent characteristics originate from a coalescence of daily life immersed in the natural environment. Further, the tribespeople's food, clothing, housing, and travel are where the traditional culture is derived. Taroko National Park Headquarters continues to promote its annual series featuring a Music Festival and Traditional Cultural Event. This event, which has entered its 16th year in succession, features a tribal music festival that is a window into the Truku people and promotes the inheritance and innovation of the Truku culture.

In the afternoon of March 6, 2021, you are invited to the Taroko Terrace (the large lawn outside the Taroko National Park Headquarters Visitor Center) to watch the Truku people tell stories with music and dance.
