Trail closures and traffic controls applied to Shakadang Trail and Eternal Spring Shrine areas from May 14th, 2018 for rockfall prevention construction work
The controls have been issued for increasing the safety of tourists.
 
Visitors are advised to plan ahead before your trip. Rockfall prevention construction work will affect visitors travelling to Shakadang Trail and the Eternal Spring Shrine
 
A: Eternal Spring Shrine area:
Traffic Control Section: Changchun Bridge east entrance to the Changguan Temple Entrance White Gate- the old highway section.
Traffic Control Dates: May 14th - May 23rd, 2018 (Monday - Wednesday)
Traffic Control Period: 7:00am - 10:00am, 12:00pm – 15:00pm.
During the control period, cars and pedestrians can still pass but the passage time are not predetermined - accessibility depends on construction conditions.
 
No Traffic Control: before 7:00am, 10:00am – 12:00pm and after 15:00pm. 
 
*The above construction sites will have NO traffic controls on weekends and public holidays.
*Tourists are still allowed to enter the Eternal Spring Shrine when construction is not underway (i.e. >7:00am, 10:00am-12pm, <15.00pm)
 
B: Shakadang trail:
Construction Dates: May 28th – June 1st, 2018 (Monday - Friday)
Location: 4 sections will undergo construction work
Trail access: Tourists will still have access to the trail but are advised to pay extra attention for safety
*Please be very cautious while entering this trail.   
 
The Taroko National Park Management Office has stated that the rockfall prevention construction work is necessary for promoting tourists’ safety. Although the administration attempts to minimize the impact of construction work on tourists’ recreational activities and traffic. Please cooperate with the construction personnel instructions. In the event of inclement weather conditions, extension or change of the construction period is possible. Taroko National Park Management will announce any changes via the official website.
