The Central Cross-Island Highway (Hwy No. 8) is closed from Lishan to Dongshih(Taichung) section, due to the earthquake of Sep. 21, 1999. Tourists can take highway 14A from Dayuling to Puli(Nantou), then highway from Puli to Taichung or Sun Moon Lake.
